1997 Guest Artist Series No. 2 Nobuyoshi Araki Purple Dress

A pleated polyester 'Appear' dress with image by Nobuyoshi Araki, Guest Artists Series No. 2, 1997 Guest Artist Series No.2 label, printed to front and back with a photograph of a Japanese girl and Araki's signature For his Guest Artist series.

Araki made two kinds of prints. 'Appear' in which his photographs were printed onto fabric before it was pleated, and 'Disappear' where they were printed once the pleating process had been completed. Each would be more or less abstracted depending on if the clothes were being worn or not.
