1998 Guest Artist Series No.3 Tim Hawkinson pleated Dress

Tim Hawkinson was born in San Francisco in 1960 and works in LA area.He is a major American artist,with large scale exhibitions .

While traveling in US ,Miyake was captivated by a Hawkinson exhibit he visited and invited the artist ,then still largely unknown (especially in japan) to be the third guest in the series.

Hawkinson recreated three of his artworks as PLEATS PLEASE creations. In all of them he used parts of his own body,printing them onto dresses and jumpsuits ,which,once worn,appeared to move with the body of the wearer. Presented in 1998.
